Being a builder of hand crafted Wild Bird Feeders the most common question I am asked, "Are your feeders squirrel proof?" In my opinion it is pretty much impossible to squirrel proof a bird feeder.

On behalf of the board of directors, staff and volunteers of Riata Ranch, we wish you and your loved ones our very best wishes during the holidays. May we all remember the reasons for the season -- Riata Ranch
Last week a severe thunderstorm left a trail damage in Riata Ranch: Fences down, uprooted trees and broken tree branches. Soon after the storm the home-owners started calling the Riata Ranch management company with requests to remove trees and restore fences. Many of the requests indicated that home-owners may not be aware of their responsibilities. Below a few facts about your property.

This Saturday, October 1st, is our twice-annual neighborhood garage sale. Spread the news; invite family and friends.
Date: 1 October 2011
Time: 7 AM - 2 PM
Location: Riata Ranch
No registration is required to participate. In order to improve sales we recommed you to post a sign on your property that you are participating.
Metro is extending the HOV lanes on HW 290 to the Cypress Metro Park and Ride. These additional 6 miles will not be separated by concrete barrier. Instead the existing inside shoulder will be repurposed. According to the Metro website the new section should open this month (August 2011).
To encourage increased involvement with residents, the HOA board is starting a new (and hopefully innovative) program! A monthly community meeting at a convenient location and time, that will allow for residents to get involved in the Riata Ranch community.
Whether you drop by for a second or stay for a while, please join us for refreshments and a casual meet and greet. We will discuss what is going on in the neighborhood, and would love for you to share your ideas on how to make our community better!
Dates: Every 3rd Tuesday
Times: 7:15pm - 8:30pm
Venue: Kids 'R' Kids
The venue is accessible by bike or on foot, or if you must by car (sufficient parking available).
This trial program is made possible by Darold and Wendy Frederick, owners of Kids R Kids on Barker Cypress, who generously open their facility for our meetings.
Check out the Riata Ranch Calendar. We have updated the calendar with the 2011-2012 Cy-Fair school district schedule, the upcoming Berry Center events and the Riata Ranch community events and meetings.
The Riata Ranch board and staff wish you a safe and happy Fourth of July. In this update we would like to provide you information about 3 topics:
Harris County Judge Ed Emmett signed an order on June 21st, 2011 declaring a drought disaster and banning the sale or use of any fireworks anywhere in unincorporated Harris County [this includes Riata Ranch]. Commissioners Court ratified Emmett’s order, extending its provisions and Governor Perry approved the extension on June 23rd, 2011.
Unable to attend the annual homeowners meeting? Find below the update from the 2010-2011 board. We ask you to submit suggestions for improvement using the website or contact Debbie Spaw at SCS Management.

Anyone who has ever been confronted by a stray or loose dog knows how unsettling it can be. There are many questions that run through your mind in a split second. Is that dog friendly? Will he leave me alone or chase after me? Will he approach my dog? Do I turn and walk away or cross the street? I have been teaching dogs and their owners for over 10 years in the Cypress area, and I consistently have residents who are concerned to walk around their own neighborhood in fear of loose dogs.
The 2011 Swim Season opens Saturday May 7. The complete schedule of opening days and hours can be found on the Community Pool page.
To access the Riata Ranch pool you need to show your 2011 pool tag. Residents that are current on their homeowners dues may order pools tags using the Pool Registration forms that have been mailed. Tags ordered before June 1st are free.
April is a busy month. On April 9 we have our twice-annual garage sale. Which means you have one weekend to clean out the garage and do some spring cleaning! Open those windows when a cold front comes through, switch off the airco for a day and enjoy the breeze..
On April 16 we organize our annual Easter event. This year a good-ole Easter Egg Hunt. Tell your neighbors!
Make sure you check our calendar regularly.
